Live Lactobacillus acidophilus for a healthy bacterial flora. A freeze-dried strain (human source) of live Lactobacillus acidophilus, mixed with a dairy free carrier of rice maltodextrin (10 dextrose equivalent, defined sugar free by FDA standards). FLORAjen Extra Strength Acidophilus This L. acidophilus strain is bile tolerant and produces trace amounts of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) from oxygen. It is the same safe strain sold to most U.S. yogurt producers for 25 years. One capsule simply equals the L. acidolphilus in over 6 cups of fresh yogurt. Each gelatin capsule (size 0) contains 460 mg powder, which is free of milk, whey, yeast, sugar, soy, eggs, corn, wheat, colorings and preservatives. May contain trace amounts of casein. USAGE Take 1 capsule daily on an empty stomach with mineral water, juice or preferably milk. Consumption with food slightly reduces the amount of culture surviving to the small intestine. OK to increase dosage to 2-3 capsules per day for 2-3 weeks if desirable. For children between 12 weeks and 5 years, sprinkle 1/2 capsule daily onto food or mix with drink. If taking antibiotics, take FLORAjen Acidophilus 1-2 hours after antibiotic. Continue taking FLORAjen Acidophilus for a few weeks after completion of antibiotic. STORAGE Refrigerate whenever possible. Three weeks at room temperature will NOT significantly reduce the cell count of L. acidophilus. Ten weeks at room temperature will reduce the count by 25%. Longer periods at room temperature will reduce the count even more (concern for spoilage is never an issue). PACKAGING Each 100cc white plastic bottle contains 30 or 60 capsules, with a rayon plug and desiccant to absorb moisture. Each bottle has a temper evident shrink wrap around cap with a lot number and expiration date on the label. Under cool storage temperatures, the product is viable and good for months beyond ''Best Before'' date. Do not use if safety seal is broken.
