Progesto-Mend promotes healthy function of progesterone producing tissues, and the healthy function of tissues that respond to progesterone. Natural levels of progesterone in the body have calming and soothing effects on brain, nerves, bones, skin, heart, immune system and other tissues in both men and women. Normal progesterone function significantly contributes to healthy mood & memory and healthy sexual response in both men & women. Function Supports healthy adrenal function, a major site of progesterone production. Favorably affects progesterone receptors, supporting healthy progesterone function. Promotes healthy function of bone, heart, brain, breasts, uterus & other progesterone sensitive tissues. Promotes healthy relaxation or muscles, thereby reducing spasms and cramps. Supports healthy immune function, supporting anti-inflammatory, anti-allergy & anti-autoimmune activity. Supports healthy brain function, memory, and cognition, enhances mood while promoting tranquility. Improves function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. May use without progesterone, or with natural progesterone to support healthy progesterone function. Active Ingredients Rehmannia (Rehmannia glutinosa) supports adrenal function through directly affecting the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. It mimics the osteoblastic stimulating actions of progesterone, Rehmannia also inhibits osteoclastic activity, thereby supporting optimal bone health. Other studies have documented cardioprotective activity. Bupleurum (Bupleurum falcatum) stimulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) system by promoting ACTH release, which maintains the size and function of the adrenal glands and increases adrenal gland production of progesterone. The anti-inflammatory actions of saikogenin A mimic the anti-inflammatory functions of progesterone. Bupleurum also mimics progesterones ability to reduce asthma symptoms. Passiflora (Passiflora incarnate) mimics the actions of progesterone with anti-asthmatic, anxiolytic and sedative properties due to a benzoflavone moiety (BZF) isolated from Passiflora. The anxiolytic effect of chrysin, a flavonoid present in Passiflora incarnata, has been linked to an activation of the GABA (A) receptors, mimicking the GABA (A) agonist properties of progesterone. Coleus (Coleus Forskohlii) has a direct effect on adrenal gland production of progesterone due to the active constituent forskolin. Serum progesterone levels were actually increased in a small study of 20 women taking forskolin. Forskolin has exhibited a wide range of soothing and inflammation properties and has demonstrated antiallergy, anti-asthma, antiglaucoma, antihypertensive, antispasmodic actions. Wild Yam (Dioscorea villosa) has antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties that in many ways mimic the same actions of progesterone. Historically, the actions of Dioscorea have been attributed to an ability to relax the autonomic nervous system, resulting in a more relaxed blood pressure, as well as decrease d vasomotor symptoms such as hot flushes and night sweats, suggesting it acts more as a functional mimetic of progesterone. Vitex (Vitex agnus-castus), long considered to be a progesterone enhancing herb, has demonstrated the ability to improve progesterone levels during the luteal phase of menstruating women. Its ability to inhibit excessive prolactin secretion is important for men since hyperprolactinemia is known to induce erectile dysfunction. Vitex may also be usefulness for prevention and/or treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia other diseases of the prostate. Peony (Paeonia lactiflora), has a direct effect on hypothalamic-pituitary axis and may benefit women by activating ovarian function. Peony also has cognitive enhancing and significant antioxidant attributes as well as cholesterol lowering and antihyperglycemic properties.
