Vitamin B-12 aids folic acid in the formation of red blood cells and the utilization of iron, thus helping to maintain our strength and energy, and helps maintain a healthy sperm count, as well. Medications that may deplete our bodies of cobalamin include many antibiotics, oral contraceptives, cimetidine, ranitidine, cholestyramine, phenytoin, and zidovudine.
