| Iron has many physiological functions. Several enzymes containing iron are involved with cellular respiration, detoxification, and protection against free radical damage. A mineral amino acid chelate is a reaction of a metal ion from a soluble mineral salt with amino acids with a mole ratio of 1 mole of metal to 1-3 (preferably 2) moles amino acids to form coordinate covalent bonds. It is not just a blend of mineral salts and amino acids used in other products. This nutritionally functional mineral amino acid chelate is absorbed and metabolized without hindrance from other minerals and allows for less negative side effects when compared to other dietary ingredients.
