Losing my mind

Losing my mind

Postby puppylove on Fri Aug 24, 2007 9:43 pm

Alright, I think I am really losing it. It seems that, within the past couple months, i keep misplacing things. But, when i do finally "find" them, they are actually right in front of my face and i can't believe i didn't see it when i was looking so frantically before. I have accused my husband, my kids and even a ghost on taking things and messing with me. my doctor told me that it could be related to my hormones (i'm 43). Can that be true? If so, how long is it going to last? I don't want to come home one day and forget where I live!

I am right there with you! I can't remember things and I sometimes feel I'm losing my mind. I teach college students, and just today during my lecture I went blank in the middle of speaking. Plus I get night sweats and I'm irritable to the point that even I can't stand to be around myself!

I would love hearing what others have done to remedy this type of situation. Progesteron creme helps the flashes, but so far I can't find anything that helps my memory and forgetfulness.

I also know the feeling forgetting something you wanted to do when you go in the next room to do it forgetting where you put something having a hard time concentrating. It is embarassing  I am getting so close to figuring it out it is so weird now it happens like a sudden flash. From what I have figured out it is estrogen being too low. If you have had your ovaries removed it is finding the right balance of Estrogen, Progesterone and Testostorone.

I have also read that decreasing estrogen has a lot of influence on forgetfulness and foggy mind. I am 37 and it has been happening to me for a couple years now. There is a really good book out written by Uzzi Rice (an OB Gyn) called Natural Hormone Balance that I would recommend. There are some recommendations that are lacking evidence a little out there, but the key points are good and he explains things really well.

This happens to many people as we get older. Our brains can only catalog so much before things start getting pushed out. Also, we have a lot of very important things on our minds and where we lay down our keys or set our purse, it's not that important and so may not be committed to your memory.

Well everyone I agree with all of you, I use to forget were I put my keys or if I even brushed my teeth in the morning. How about this your surfing the net and something came to your mind and you wanted to look it up. You bring up a new browser window and boom you forgot what your looking for. Hated! After about a year of searching for something that will help combat the problem I came accross a product that helps with the issue. It's a dietary supplement which does wonders for the mind. If your interested in your own body enhancing the ability to remember were your keys are and not accuse your partner for taking them e-mail for me for more details.
