How delightful to find this forum/community! I am quite happily on bioidentical hormone therapy (progesterone and a tiny amount of testosterone--estrogen levels are fine)and have been for 2 1/2 years. My physician is Dr. John Carr at Monterey/Fleur Womens Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, CA.

I cannot overemphasize the importance of balanced hormones. Since I started the protocol, I have been able to discontinue SIX medications: antihistamine, acid reflux medication, blood pressure, sleep medication, antidepressant, and most importantly to me, the Concerta I took for Adult Attention Defiicit Disorder.

My hot flashes (I was bursting into flames several times a day!) went away completely, as did my restless leg syndrome. I no longer have any problems with dry eyes (my opthomologist was so impressed), and my energy level is better now than it was when I was 30, and I am 50! Oh, yes, I guess this is important too, I am now down 80 pounds from my high weight, and still working on it. I work out 5-6 days a week at our local Y, and I promise you, there was no way I was able to do that without the bioidentical hormones. I will tell anyone who will listen to me that I have never felt better, and I am so grateful to finally know what it is like to feel like a healthy woman.

I'm Holyhormones because I tell people that everyone in NC (where I currently live) is evangelical about something, with me it's just hormones instead of religion! Thank you Andrea for telling us your story! It is certainly inspirational and especially will be to those who are wondering about whether or not to "take the plunge" with bioidenticals.

I am thankfull to find this forum and gratefull for all who post and tell their story.
These are the kind of results I am looking for. My raging hot flashes are so frequent that my associates at work have started to fan me when I start to fire up.
I am glad to hear you mention ressless leg syndrome as that is an issue I have had for the last year or so but had not connected this with my hormones!! I will have to research this.
And the weight gain, OH my, congratulations on your sucess. Thank you for the encouragement, will check out your blog soon.
